My Hotel Review :- The Settlement Hotel, Melaka.

Peace and Tranquility at The Settlement Hotel, Melaka.

The Little Lobby

We chose this place for its location near to the Portuguese Settlement. Because I wanted to let my loved ones try some Portuguese dishes at in Portuguese Square. Sort of showing my son, his roots. This quaint little hotel is about 10 minutes from the Portuguese Square. When booked the room, I was anticipating some cheezy decorated BnB. But what we got impressed me.

The Corridor to your room

The hotel was tastefully decorated with well kept grounds. Room was decorated with a Baba Nyonya Colonial theme. Right to the blue floral room coffee and tea ware. Everything was artistically placed. This gave the place a soft, tranquil feel. Which made you forget that you were in the heart of busy Melaka.

Room was clean and comfortable with a nice big bathtub. My kids loved the bathtub. The staff was also very friendly, everyone greeted us whenever they met us. You don’t get that much anymore in some large five star hotel. Even the common spaces are so welcoming. You can relax and enjoy the ambiance at any time of day. Furnishings are lovely and create a luxurious atmosphere.

Breakfast was adequate, not luxury but tasty. I like how its spread out around the little garden. Everyone there seem to have breakfast at a leisurely pace. That’s what being on holiday is all about.

Beverage Counter
Hot Food with Egg Station at the far end
Cozy Dining Area

In terms of food they have a small cafe but there’s a lot of restaurants just walking distance.

Only negative thing I could find about this place was the parking. You have to drive along a bumpy road to the back to the hotel. But it was ok.

Verdict :- Definitely recommend to everyone if you are in Melaka. We got to appreciate the tranquility of The Settlement. The hotel is located away from the hustle and bustle of touristy areas. Great place to relax. Great value for money. I am planning to return somewhere in December when the whole Portuguese Settlement is decorated for Christmas.

D’Wharf Hotel & Serviced Residence Port Dickson Negeri Sembilan – Hotel Review

D’wharf Hotel & Serviced Residence Port Dickson, Negeri Sembilan was what we chose this time around. As we couldn’t travel across the border. Also D’wharf hotel also had a very large pool, I feel the largest in Port Dickson. So the kids could enjoy the swimming anytime they feel like it. They have been couped up at home for almost a month. Pity them. They needed to let off steam.

It was a beautiful Morning Walk in PD Waterfront as the weather was great today. PD Water front is a beachfront development in Port Dickson Town. Its a nice place to walk and in the mornings, there are people jogging or walking.

Along the road there is a bank and little food shops like PappaRich, Domino Pizza, King's Bakery and many more. At night on weekend PD Waterfront comes alive with little stalls selling or renting out items to make soap bubbles. So there will be alot of kids and even adults playing soap bubbles.

Medan Ikan Bakar MPPD Port Dickson is our go to place for affordable seafood. There are three different restaurant at the Medan Ikan Bakar. Our favourite restaurant is the Restoran Nelayan . We found that the seafood is slightly cheaper than the other two. Its my opinion only. Survey yourself.

We normally take a siakap. One half is cooked tiga rasa and the other half grilled. For my sons is either buttered prawns or fried crabs. I like to have a small plate of kangkong belacan.

Our meal for five (2 adults and 3 kids) with some drinks cost us RM117. Prices may vary due to season. So please check first.

The other restaurant is on the sea with an excelent view of the sea.

My Verdict:-

The place was clean. Service was fast and food was good. We had a siakap fish, 4 buttered prawns, kankong belacan, lala masak pedas and 6 drinks. The bill came up to RM117.
(please note:- the total above is at the time of posting. Prices may vary.)
